- We document and describe previously unexplored Arabic varieties in southern Iran and ensure the accessibility and longevity of the language data.
- We are creating a digital corpus of spoken Arabic from the southern Iranian provinces of Bushehr and Hormozgan.
- We are researching the linguistic situation of Arabic varieties from a socio- and areallinguistic perspective.
- We analyse the phonology, morphology, syntax and prosody of the Arabic varieties from a dialect-comparative perspective.
- We analyse linguistic contact phenomena between Arabic and Persian.
- We collect and document cultural practices.
